Oregano is an herbal plant that is very easy to grow. This is my go to remedy along with ginger for my children each time they get colds.
For this project, I made it into soap because of its excellent anti-inflammatory property. For more than a year now, I am suffering to a skin inflammation due to food allergy.
At first I made an Oregano Tincture which I sprayed a lot in my leg where the allergy is. It really helped a lot in managing the itch but the pain brought by the alcohol is sometimes unbearable.
But with constant application (spray 3x a day), for almost 8mos and diet of course, my leg skin is free from allergy. There’s this small area left though :(. Right at the ball of my right foot. It hadn’t gone out yet.
I hope with this soap and going without chicken and egg food, will soon be gone.
Here's a video on How I make an Oregano Soap.

I had my first baking during our homeroom class in high school. I also had the chance to compete for a Pineapple Cake baking contest. Thanks to my teacher mentor Mrs. Lee. Honestly, I don't have a good cooking skill. I eat and enjoy food prepared by other people. I like best my mom and dad's home cooking. I struggle to cook food especially for my kids. And when the recipe didn't turn out the way is should be, I end up ordering food online.
The first thing I baked with our new oven was the Chocolate Chip cookie, but today I am going to share with you one of the healthy snack, Simply Perfect Pumpkin Muffin by Jennifer, also shared to me by Tita Heart.
My version is called Spiced Squash Muffin. The ingredients are all easy to find at the grocery and baking stores. I choose to baked muffins with a vegetable ingredient to make it more healthy for my family.
The Ingredients
These are at their best on the day they are baked, crunchy top and best served with milk, coffee or tea.
Happy Birthday to my Little Buddy. Happy Baking!

Key Constituent
Citronellal is an active agent as antifungal, anthelmintic and antibiotic.
Uses
Lemongrass is used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat numerous ailments including digestive problems, fever, menstrual cramps, nausea and as an anti-depressant. It is a delicious addition to tea. It adds a pleasant and uplifting lemon-like and citrusy flavor to herbal tea blends.
Lemongrass acts like a natural antibiotic and anti fungal. In Ayurveda, the essential oil is used as a stimulant for the circulatory system to reduce joints inflammation and arthritic pain. It relieves painful menses. Similarly, it is used as a natural insecticide commonly against mosquitoes and against aphids when crushed leaves are mixed with water. It is an alternative to DEET based insect repellants.
The insect repelling property of lemongrass is activated only when the plant is crushed.
My sample recipe at home.
Make a dried lemongrass leaves infusion and use it for fevers and in soaps for antibacterial action.
The mango butter I'm using according to the supplier is carefully refined and deodorized and can be used straight, or in other products, such as creams, lotions, lip products and soaps with a suggested usage rate ranging from 5% up.

This is soap recipe is loaded with natural ingredients. It has pure tomato juice extract, cinnamon powder and turmeric powder.
Tomato is an edible fruit that is very common in all over the world. It is one of the healthiest food ideal for our body. They have an outstanding antioxidant called lycopene. Lycopene plays a special role in our skin. It has the capacity to prevent free radicals that damages cells inside our body. It benefits our skin in so many ways. It increases fairness, balances pH, tightens pores, treats sunburn, reduces skin irritation and treats acne.
Cinnamon powder is a kind of spice that has many health benefits along with tomato and turmeric. It helps get rid of acne and pimples on the face and whole body. Like tomato, it also soothes dry skin, enhances complexion, reduces fine lines, prevent infections from wounds and many more.
Turmeric powder is commonly used for coloring and flavoring food but for cosmetic purposes, it has been used to boost immune system and has anti-oxidant property. The anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effect helps to clear acne, scars and inflammation. It also reduces oil secretion by sebaceous glands.
The recipe includes 100% Pure tomato extract mixed with sodium hydroxide, oils of Virgin Coconut and Olive including a tablespoon of each cinnamon and turmeric powder with Peppermint and Tea.
Garden Breeze gives me the feeling of our probinsya life in Isabela.
Black Magic is inspired by the natural and local ingredients I collected in my garden and bought from local farmers.

Creamy Calendula Castile Soap is full of Calendula officinalis benefits infused in pure extra virgin olive oil and with Local Goat Milk and Aloe vera Extract, the pot marigold, is a great herb for skin care, and has perhaps the longest history of use of any herb in skin care. Dried calendula petals are a great addition to soap because they maintain their color imparting an orange color to the soap. The petals are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and immune-stimulating. These properties are useful for treating various types of dermatitis such as eczema.
The useful components of calendula include a volatile oil, carotenoids, flavonoids, mucilage, resin, polysachharides, aromatic plant acids as well as saponins, glycosides and sterols. Extracts of calendula can also include alcohol tincture, water soluble tea, or distilled and used as Essential oil or watery distillate.
Calendula, when used as skin wash to a wound will promote healing. It is best used for chapped and otherwise irritated skin. The oil soluble components including the essential oil seem especially good at stimulating wound healing. Scientific studies find that extracts of calendula can speed the healing of skin wounds and burns.
Calendula Balm has also been used to decrease dermatitis. The healing properties of calendula are because of its high levels of carotenoids (vitamin A-like compounds). These compounds are oil soluble, an infused oil is a good way to go. Calendula also contains oil-soluble sterols that help plump the skin and keep it thick. You can use this oil directly in a balm or as part of the oil portion of a cream or lotion. This infused oil can help with skin regeneration, diaper rash, sunburn, bed sores and various inflammatory conditions.
Anne Remigio Formula Botanica Win the Scholarship entry
#OrganicSeptember #OrganicBeautyWeek #LookForTheLogo
Hello everyone, my name is Rose Aureen Remigio, call me Anne. I am 34 years old. I am gratefully & happily married with three young kids. I am a licensed Pharmacist and owner of Khrystal Beauty Essences here in the Philippines. My business started ten years ago, in a very small room with dermatological product formulations. I have made skin care products from a cosmetic grade active ingredients. I developed a brand under Perfection of Beauty, which caters low-cost skin care products, the Love Your Skin PH that has the highest quality of ingredients and formulation.
My organic skin care journey began when I met my mentor in soap making. He introduced me to all natural products. He gave me a handbook of Philippine medicinal plants. The information inside are very helpful; it made me realize that I can make all natural and organic skin care products using the local ingredients. My family also gave me books to read about natural skin care. However, organic raw materials are not easily available in my country. I did not stop despite that. Instead, I made soap product that is all natural at its best. I collect plant materials that are already available in my garden. I processed my harvest and I made few variants of soap from these natural plants. Some of these are Coconut Oil, Tumeric, Tomato, Moringa, Calamansi, Coconut Milk, Carrot, Guava, Rose Petals, Aloe Vera, Ginger, Papaya and Essential Oils. These became my best sellers since, then. I made few creams and lotions too, however, I am not afraid to use small amount of safe synthetics to make a certain product more functional.
I currently have a product under DG Naturals brand, a soap collection using Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut Milk and their active ingredients: all natural or organic as possible. I also have the Honey Soap series using raw honey and Organic VCO that I buy locally from the farmers and extra virgin olive oil which I buy in the supermarket. I have currently developed a natural face and body cream made of Goat’s Milk and OatMilk for sensitive skin including skin allergies like psoriasis, urticaria and eczema that is common in our country. These products that I mentioned are already out in the market. I am selling them through my social media accounts including Facebook and Instagram. I also run my own website. Aside from that, I join bazaar and similar events catering skin care products. You can also see my products in different eCommerce websites.
My first target market is my fellow countrymen. We have the same type and physiology of the skin so it will be easy for me to create a product for us. Aside from that, I want them to enjoy, experience and be proud of our local and organic skin care products. I will formulate and produce something that is affordable to all without sacrificing the quality, efficacy and safety of the product.
If I win this scholarship, I want to create a collection of more products with natural and organic ingredients. I will start first with the raw materials that are already available in my country and slowly I will study how to produce organic materials with the local farmers. I look forward to fill-in the gap between them and us as makers/formulators of these amazing products. I believe in the knowledge that I will learn from Formula Botanica will help me understand not just the business side of skin care but it will also boost my confidence, love and passion for creating more products that are eco-friendly, sustainable, natural and organic. It has been my long dream to find a school that is dedicated to skin care using natural and organic materials. I have been to pharmaceutical companies using synthetic drugs and in a skin care industry using the same types of chemicals. I never thought we can bring back the old ways of preparing drugs and products the natural way. I love natural products, it keeps on flashing the memories of my great grandmother of her natural shampoo using “Gugo” bark, her coconut oil and aloe vera hair conditioner, guava leaf and oregano poultice for the wounds, her herbal concoction of ginger, honey and calamansi (a local lemon), fresh roast and brewed rice coffee and tiny rice grain pops and a lot more.
And last but not the least I want to share my knowledge to others. I belong to a group of skin care formulators here in my country who aims for the natural and organic skin care products. Together we will encourage the idea of organic skin care among our members through their products and we will encourage the discussion of benefits to all our customers. It is not just all about the business but also the chance to deal and communicate with other people the goodness of nature-friendly and sustainable raw materials, eco-friendly and organic products, as well as love and hope for Mother Earth.
